I'm really excited about Fic in a Box and I hope you are too! I did my best to offer a wide array of likes and prompts in my letter. Don't feel obliged to write everything for one prompt or fandom. I really like longfic, but I would love a bunch of gifts in an array of fandoms and prompts and mediums as well. Most of all, I hope you have fun with creating things you love!

What I love about the fandom and pairings: BARBARIAN ROMANCE! Dinosaurs in the background! I really like how Milla Vane (aka Meljean Brook) builds words, and this series is no exception. I like the politiccal manoeuvring, I like the wildness and the violence. I love that this is a world recovering from a terrible event. I love Marrek and Yvette and the found family around them. Which brings me to Ardyl and Keril. They caught my eye the moment they took someone else to their beds, and the more the love between them became clearer, the more I became invested. The mutual love and pining that isn't quite pining. DELICIOUS. I also really, really love the importance of truth and honesty in this series, because it bares so many emotions that usually stay hidden.

PROMPTS

fic that explores their youth. How they came to be part of Maddek’s Dragon. When did they realize that they loved each other? How did they decide that they never would act on it. Did they talk about this or did they never speak of it directly to one another?
fic that actually gets them together. I like the explanation Ardyl gives in book 2, that their oath to Maddek would always trump any oaths they could make to each other, but… BUT. They love each other already! It hasn’t gone away! They swore their oats together! Surely there is a way that they can be together, within their oaths and loyalty towards Maddek. It can happen on their current mission, it can happen in the far future, when the Destroyer is defeated and the world is better. Maybe one of them almost dies, maybe they all almost die, maybe they finally kiss on the final battlefield… Maybe it happens when they are older or when Maddek is no longer the Ran, when they’re grey and their joints are creaky…
One way all these feelings could be explored could be through the people they shared their beds and hearts with. Who was the first woman they shared a bed with? Who was the first man? Did they ever share Maddek between them? Ardyl mentions they both have big hearts, who else did they love or feel affection for? How did sharing their bed with a third person become the way they express the love between them? (I'm not specifically interested in the monk character who has a crush on them, but he can totally be part of a wider exploration).
The super angsty version where one of them is taken and the other has to keep their oath and can't go rescue them. Terrible things happen, but eventually, they get free/are rescued and are reunited, and dramatic love confessions happen.
Adventures on the road. They left their home behind, how do they view their fellow travelers? What do they think about the lands they travel through? How do their fellow Parsathians view their relationship? How many dinosaurs do they kill? Some kind of travelogue about their adventures on the road would be awesome. Also, since book 1 is canonically put into song by book 2, I am totally here for a bard type of character putting the story of the star-crossed barbarians to song.

The aforementioned songs, about their love, their adventures, songs they sing to each other, songs about the Destroyer, the one song Ardyl remembers from her youth that Keril sings to her.
I love all the dinosaurs descriptions in the books, so I’m totally here for a bestiary featuring them together with the other wildlife. Feel free to throw in some other fantasy creatures, and notes about the natural habitats. I really love the post-apocalyptic feel of this world, so you can definitely play with that too.

KING ARTHUR (2004)

Requested: Bors/Dagonet/Vanora

What I love about the fandom and pairings: I really love the whole Sarmatian Auxiliary to the Roman army angle of King Arthur. 15 years of fighting in a war that is not yours, in a country that isn't yours, for a country that is not yours. I love the easy friendship between all the knights, but also how very different they look upon their time in Britain. So much drama and fucked-upness right there.

And the there's this moment relatively early in the movie, when Vanora sings, and Bors and Dagonet share a look, and every time I get fucking emotional about it.

And just, they just want to go home, but the Romans fuck them over, and then Dagonet sacrifices himself and I drown in tears.

I love the obvious affection Bors feels for both Vanora and Dagonet, I love how Dagonet is this mountain of silent, but deep feelings, and I love how Vanora is possibly the only sensible person in that whole castle. I have a mighty need for the three of them to LIVE happily ever after. Fuck, they'd be hot, and awesome and glorious together. Honestly, this is one of my perennial requests because my love for them never stills. A long time ago I wrote this Sarmatian Threesome primer, and all my emotions are still as strong.

This is a very specific request for OT3, please don't make them Pairing + One

PROMPTS

DAGONET LIVES

The whole Sarmatian knight thing is one of the biggest appeals for me, so I would love fic that explores the culture clashes between Bors and Dagonet, Sarmatians raised by the Roman army, and Vanora, a woman of the isles (?). (We actually don’t know her background; she sings about Home and it’s implied she’s singing about Sarmatia, but since we don’t see any girls being displaced by the Romans, I think that she’s the daughter of a former Sarmatian knight with a British woman. Which I love because Culture Clash! But feel free to play around to your heart’s content.
There’s also Bors idea of settling in Britain, which I love, because again, culture clash, and also Bors is just such a soldier, the idea of him trying his hand at farming cracks me up. But I also imagine them all going back to Sarmatia, and like trying to settle in a life there that they lost a long time ago, because when you spent such a formative part of your youth away from your culture, it’s bound to feel alien. Speaking of Sarmatia, apparently they were known for having Warrior Women, so a fic where Vanora’s kind but bossy nature is what attracts them to her would be lovely
This can all be established relationship, or them getting together, either with something already being there between two of them (Bors/Vanora, or Bors/Dagonet) and the third one balancing it all out. The Romancing and Seduction of one Silent Stoic Soldier called Dagonet, by means of Stray Children, Foul Language and Excellent Sex, as told by Vanora, with enthusiastic annotations by Bors, would be excellent.

I’m not going to lie, I’m mostly into these three because they’re so affectionate with one another, there’s so much physicality in this movie and it’s so obvious they love each other. So yeah, I’m here for some hot Sarmatian threesomes. Some ideas and things I like for them:

I have a theory that obviously Bors' 12 children are at least 50% strays Dagonet picked up. I'd love a slice of life type fic, where the three (try to) find an escape from the daily chaos of raising 12 children to get laid. Extra kudos if there's a couple of awkward walk-ins and some failed attempts because of sudden interruptions. Sex in the outdoors seems like one possible solution to this problem.
I did love all the fighting scenes a lot, and angsty fic where someone gets wounded, and the other two comfort them and each other would be delicious. Without the angst I'd also love Post-Battle victory sex, Thank God We're Alive sex and Dammit, Looking at you fight makes me really horny sex. Could also be Post-Training sex, because I imagine Vanora to be an interested spectator whenever Bors and Dagonet spar. I'm convinced they'd have competitions between them to have the honor of eating Vanora out that evening. All the manhandling, rolling around, struggling for being on top. I like to think Vanora makes up for her lack of physical strength (in comparison) with the strength of her personality.
I'd love a Soulbond AU, or an Animal Shifter AU, or both. Especially if there'd be cultural differences between the Britons and Sarmatians in how was dealt with this. I love me some Fantasy Non-Human Genitalia, so feel free to go as weird and kinky as you want. I'm also really into all the marking and claiming and possessiveness, especially if it's mutual and in all directions.

Fandom specific DNW: Dagonet being dead (except of old age when all three of them have died).
More a caveat than a DNW: I'm fine with any iteration of the Arthur-Lancelot-Guinevere situation you prefer, as long as it's very much in the background and not the focus on the fic.

HIDDEN LEGACY - ILONA ANDREWS

What I love about the fandom and pairings: I love the magic system and all the House politics. I have a weakness for tech-wizz characters, and they're both such delicious variants of the trope. I'm super interested in Bug and his relationship with his Swarm, how it helps him, how he manages to co-exist, why he volunteered for certain death in the first place... The man is a mystery, and I love how we see glimpses here and there throughout the books. I like how quickly he became loyal to Rogan and to Nevada, and how he's becoming healthier and happier and finding a place in the world.

I love Bern's logical way of doing everything, I love how he reports on cases, I love that he just wants to learn and learn, and genuinely seems to like college. I love that he looks like a giant wrestler, gives his family bearhugs and plays silly computer games with them, while he's also a genius analyst, who seems to be serious all the time. He's just such a starchy hero, and I'm dying to see him unstarched.

I ship them so much!!! They seem to like each other, have similar but very different ways of looking at data, and I love the competition and genuine admiration between them. Also, imagine what they could do if they really, genuinely worked together? No database would be safe.

They haven't interacted much in the first Catalina book, but that moment at the end, where all Bern's stuff is ruined and Bug moves his way to comfort him?? THAT IS MY JAM. My shipping heart was reinvigorated.

A couple of notes: I haven't read the new Catalina book yet, but there's a 99% chance I will have by reveals. I also don't mind spoilers. Feel free to use any information we learn about Bug and/or Bern, and any developments related to House Baylor. I haven't been hugely enthused by Catalina/Alessandro uptil now, but I do like Runa/Catalina, so feel free to have that happen in the background. If I get any additional ideas after reading the book, I will clearly put those at the bottom of this letter.

PROMPTS

Anything related to the rebuilding of the Warehouse, specifically, Bug wooing Bern with rebuilding his electronica. Maybe one of them accidentally moves in with the other when this happens? Bug comforting Bern with a loss only he truly understands? ALL THAT LOST DATA AND HARDWARE.
Case-fic. Them working on a case together, and being competitive (boyfriends) about it. I just want them to have fun together while they solve something through sexy data crawling and hot analysis. Flirting through tech speak while catching bad people. Feel free to go wild with opt-in medium stuff that is case-related or romance relater or both. I love marginalia so lines of code, little notes etc all sound like fun.
With the whole House Baylor thing, I'm sure both Bern and Bug are doing a lot of work behind the scenes to protect the House and make sense of the madness. All the hot nerds learning about possible enemies, gathering data on dangerous Houses, and kicking ass and taking names together. I'd be super into them disabling a plot before it can be put in motion because they're just so good when they put their brains together.
Honestly, I'd also be into all the secret dating, trying to hide their budding relationship from a House of Detectives and Security experts sounds like fun.

Medium Opt-Ins:

Arabella's Very Secret Conspiracy Board About Bern and Bug and their Secret Romance. She made it a physical board because they can't HACK IT. She only gets caught in the threads 3 times.
Even more fun would be if there are like... different Conspiracy Boards by different members of their entourage. I love Outsider POV and In-Universe works sound like a great way to play with that.
Another take on this could be the contrast between Bugs' File on Bern Baylor, which isn't a stalker's board and doesn't betray any feelings, nope not at all. VS. Bern's very logically outlined diary entries where he eventually comes to the conclusion that he probably does have romantic feelings for Bug. Featuring a Pro and Con list whether he should act on it. They both have Action Plans for seduction.
This is a canon I feel that lends itself really well to In-Universe mediums, so feel free to think out of the box and go really out there. I would prefer there to be at least some narrative though.

THE OLD GUARD (Movie 2020)

What I love about the fandom and pairings: I love the team, I love the history, I love that they're immortals trying to do good. I love the found family vibes, I love their shitty safe houses and their multilingual bets and the way that they keep putting their bodies through so much violence in an attempt to make the world a little better. I love that they've obviously spent a lot of time thinking about the why and the what and that they come up with "destiny" and "depends on the century". I love Joe the incurable romantic and Nicky the knife. I love Andy and her love for Quynh and how she's lost track of her purpose. I love Nile who just throws herself out of the window once she's decided she's in. I love Booker and his inevitable betrayal because he was grieving too much to see how loved he was. I love that Joe and Nicky killed each other and still made the choice to stick together and that they fell in love for almost a 1000 years. I love that they round up and call it a millenium.

I love that (for me) the core message of this film is: I help you, you help someone else. We're not meant to be alone.

PROMPTS
(Background Andy/Celeste, Andy/Quynh, Andy/Nile and/or Andy/Booker is definitely ok!)

Team fic like the Leverage Boys/Girls Night Out ep. Andy, Quynh and Nile vs. Joe, Nicky and Booker. Both groups dealing with SHENANIGANS while also working through some issues. For example, Nile getting stuck between a violently reuniting Andromache and Quynh, while dealing with an angry drug cartel they accidentally enraged. Meanwhile, Joe and Nicky's date is derailed by an immortal-hating sect who've been hunting them for centuries and have captured Booker. Lots of hashing out issues while fighting bad guys, and bad-timed communication between the groups.
I would love a fic where Joe and Nicky don't fall in love right away, but do very early on decide that, fuck, apparently this is the man I'm going to spend my long immortal life with, so I'm going to put the effort in to be a good partner. Like a marriage arranged by immortality. Related to this, I would love something that explores how Nicky, who was part of the crusades and who was taught to hate, makes the conscious decision to be kind, and how he sticks to that through the centuries. (Imagine the power behind Joe's words mentioning Nicky's overflowing kindness, when that kindness is intentional rather than by nature.)
A fic that explores their love through the ages. Vignettes of them in different historical settings. Romantic gestures through the ages. Ways they pick up habits in places and how some of those linger through the centuries.
Related, a fic that explores their sex-life through the ages, and the ways it shifts and switches. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're not, sometimes they'll be a decade into something very specific, only to never do it again later. They'll try anything twice, and some things they'll do just because one of them is really into it. One if the things I really enjoy in established relationship fic is the myriad ways to show intimacy. Can you imagine the intimacy of being known, truly known, for centuries?
Arranged marriage fic, somewhere in a historical setting, in a fantasy setting, anywhere.
Soulbond AU, where they're still immortal and still kill each other, only now they can hear each other's thoughts and/or can feel each other's emotions and everything becomes that more entangled and complicated.

Any art Joe creates, ranging from poetry to abstract paintings. Doesn't have to be about Nicky only. I would really like something that explores the different cultural and artistic influences Joe picked up through the centuries. I would like a narrative story to frame the mediums, if possible.
Conspiracy Boards: The Keanu Reeves is an Immortal thing but with Joe/Nicky (and the team) and art through the ages. Feel free to add this painting to the conspiracy (I would actually love references to existing art!)
For the AO3 exchange I have this specific idea: at some point in their early history, Joe wrote a bunch of super romantic (probably dirty), definitely pining poetry. They were recently found and cause quite the ruckus. Theories go wild, queer fans everywhere make dramatic moodboards, one line becomes a super popular tattoo. Suddenly they're a Yuletide fandom, with people requesting fic for Narrator/Object of his desire etc. There's a crossover with Ea-Nasir, one with Jolene and definitely one where the author is paired with other poets.

Then the team finds out. Possibilities for that: Nile starts trolling. Booker is enraged at the crimes against literature (and then starts arguments with Les Mis fans. Andy gets distracted and treats every historical f/f request. Joe is mostly embarrassed, but also amused at how wrong everyone gets it. Nicky secretly writes a story that very straightforwardly tells the story of what really happened to inspire the poetry. Or anything else you can come up with. I'm into this idea partly for the fandom crack, but also to explore how the team at large and Joe/Nicky specifically deal with the fandom version of a part of their history.

INNKEEPER CHRONICLES - ILONA ANDREWS

What I love about the fandom and pairings: VAMPIRES IN SPACE!! Okay, so I love the mix of magic and sci-fi that is the innkeeper series. I love Gertrude's magic and Dina and the whole concept of inn's as magical places where weary space travelers can rest their heads. But I only really got fannish when we went with Maud to the vampire world, because POLITICS. MARTIAL ORIENTED POLITICS. I just love everything about the 4th innkeeper book so much. I'm just a sucker for culture clashes and diplomacy and violent cultures trying to be not violent. I really love Maud and Arland as a pairing because they're so obviously in love, but at the same time they're also realistic about their situation, and so the pining while trying to figure out if they can work out long time really worked for me. I'm also a sucker for couples who work together, so Mauds new political position in House Krahr works so well for me.

PROMPTS

Fic related to Maud’s new function. All the Space Diplomacy with various alien species in the new Space Station, while she’s navigating the vampire politics and her in-laws meddling.
Arland’s sister goes missing, possibly due to aliens and Maud and Arland have to go on a rescue mission while also avoiding a new galactic war (or starting a new Vampire conflict because it turned out to be Vampires, not aliens, and nobody messes with House Khrahr. The more Lady Ilemina and her consort are involved the better (or worse).
Maud and Arland are obviously in love, but they figured that out in very difficult circumstances, so now that the waters have calmed a little, what do they learn about each other. How does their life together look like? How does Helen fit it? How does their relationship develop?
I am weak for battle couples. Any excuse for a big sprawling battle where they both get to up their kill count, maybe save each other’s life and afterward have wild life-affirming sex would be great. Bathing in the blood of their enemies optional.
Maud and Arland started their courting while fighting and sparring together, so a fic that explores this further, how the nature of their sparring changes along with their relationship, maybe even some outsider POV on this, or a n times kind of fic. Sparring turning into slightly violent sex very welcome.
