I'm excited about Fic in a Box and I hope you are too! I did my best to offer a wide array of likes and prompts in my letter. Don't feel obliged to write everything for one prompt or fandom. I really like longfic, but I would love a bunch of gifts in an array of fandoms and prompts and mediums as well. Most of all, I hope you have fun with creating things we both love!

A GATHERING OF DRAGONS - MILLA VANE

Requested: Ardyl/Kelir, Ardyl/Kelir/Original Character(s),

What I love about the fandom and characters: BARBARIAN ROMANCE! Dinosaurs in the background! I really like how Milla Vane (aka Meljean Brook) builds words, and this series is no exception. I like the political maneuvering, I like the wildness and the violence. I love that this is a world recovering from a terrible event. I love Marrek and Yvette and the found family around them.

Which brings me to Ardyl and Kelir. They caught my eye the moment they took someone else to their beds, and the more the love between them became clearer, the more I became invested. The mutual love and pining that isn't quite pining. DELICIOUS. I also really, really love the importance of truth and honesty in this series, because it bares so many emotions that usually stay hidden. They're just so upfront about their feelings, while at the same time also being quiet about it.

The tension between their oath and loyalty to Maddek vs. their obviously deepfelt feelings for each other, and how they navigate that by having threesomes where they don't touch is just so fucking appealing to me. For fic that gets them actually together, I like the explanation Ardyl gives in book 2, that their oath to Maddek would always trump any oaths they could make to each other, but… BUT. They love each other already! It hasn't gone away! They swore their oats together! Surely there is a way that they can be together, within their oaths and loyalty towards Maddek. It can happen on their current mission, it can happen in the far future, when the Destroyer is defeated and the world is better. Maybe one of them almost dies, maybe they all almost die, maybe they finally kiss on the final battlefield! Maybe it happens when they are older or when Maddek is no longer the Ran, when they're grey and their joints are creaky...

Let them love each other!

fic that explores their youth. How they came to be part of Maddek’s Dragon. When did they realize that they loved each other? How did they decide that they never would act on it? Did they talk about this or did they never speak of it directly to one another?

One way all these feelings could be explored could be through the people they shared their beds and hearts with. Who was the first woman they shared a bed with? Who was the first man? Did they ever share Maddek between them? Ardyl mentions they both have big hearts, who else did they love or feel affection for? How did sharing their bed with a third person become the way they express the love between them? (I'm not specifically interested in the monk character who has a crush on them, but he can totally be part of a wider exploration).
The super angsty version where one of them is taken and the other has to keep their oath and can't go rescue them. Terrible things happen, but eventually, they get free/are rescued and are reunited, and dramatic love confessions happen.
Adventures on the road. They left their home behind, how do they view their fellow travelers? What do they think about the lands they travel through? How do their fellow Parsathians view their relationship? How many dinosaurs do they kill? Some kind of travelogue about their adventures on the road would be awesome. Also, since book 1 is canonically put into song by book 2, I am totally here for a bard type of character putting the story of the star-crossed barbarians to song.

KING ARTHUR (2004)

Requested: Bors/Dagonet/Vanora

What I love about the fandom and pairings: I really love the whole Sarmatian Auxiliary to the Roman army angle of King Arthur. 15 years of fighting in a war that is not yours, in a country that isn't yours, for a country that is not yours. I love the easy friendship between all the knights, but also how very different they look upon their time in Britain. So much drama and fucked-upness right there.

There's this moment relatively early in the movie, when Vanora sings, and Bors and Dagonet share a look, and every time I get fucking emotional about it.

They just want to go home, but the Romans fuck them over, and then Dagonet sacrifices himself and I drown in tears.

I love the obvious affection Bors feels for both Vanora and Dagonet, I love how Dagonet is this mountain of silent, but deep feelings, and I love how Vanora is possibly the only sensible person in that whole castle. I have a mighty need for the three of them to LIVE happily ever after. Fuck, they'd be hot, and awesome and glorious together. Honestly, this is one of my perennial requests because my love for them never stills. A long time ago I wrote this Sarmatian Threesome primer, and all my emotions are still as strong.

DAGONET LIVES

The whole Sarmatian knight thing is one of the biggest appeals for me, so I would love fic that explores the culture clashes between Bors and Dagonet, Sarmatians raised by the Roman army, and Vanora, a woman of the isles (?). (We actually don’t know her background; she sings about Home and it’s implied she’s singing about Sarmatia, but since we don’t see any girls being displaced by the Romans, I think that she’s the daughter of a former Sarmatian knight with a British woman. Which I love because Culture Clash! But feel free to play around to your heart’s content.)
There’s also Bors idea of settling in Britain, which I love, because again, culture clash, and also Bors is just such a soldier, the idea of him trying his hand at farming cracks me up. But I also imagine them all going back to Sarmatia, and like trying to settle in a life there that they lost a long time ago, because when you spent such a formative part of your youth away from your culture, it’s bound to feel alien. Speaking of Sarmatia, apparently they were known for having Warrior Women, so a fic where Vanora’s kind but bossy nature is what attracts them to her would be lovely.
This can all be established relationship, or them getting together, either with something already being there between two of them (Bors/Vanora, or Bors/Dagonet) and the third one balancing it all out. The Romancing and Seduction of one Silent Stoic Soldier called Dagonet, by means of Stray Children, Foul Language and Excellent Sex, as told by Vanora, with enthusiastic annotations by Bors, would be excellent.
I’m not going to lie, I’m mostly into these three because they’re so affectionate with one another, there’s so much physicality in this movie and it’s so obvious they love each other. So yeah, I’m here for some hot Sarmatian threesomes. Some ideas and things I like for them:
I have a theory that obviously Bors' 12 children are at least 50% strays Dagonet picked up. I'd love a slice of life type fic, where the three (try to) find an escape from the daily chaos of raising 12 children to get laid. Extra kudos if there's a couple of awkward walk-ins and some failed attempts because of sudden interruptions. Sex in the outdoors seems like one possible solution to this problem.
I did love all the fighting scenes a lot, and angsty fic where someone gets wounded, and the other two comfort them and each other would be delicious. Without the angst I'd also love Post-Battle victory sex, Thank God We're Alive sex and Dammit, Looking at you fight makes me really horny sex. Could also be Post-Training sex, because I imagine Vanora to be an interested spectator whenever Bors and Dagonet spar. I'm convinced they'd have competitions between them to have the honor of eating Vanora out that evening. All the manhandling, rolling around, struggling for being on top. I like to think Vanora makes up for her lack of physical strength (in comparison) with the strength of her personality.
I'd love a Soulbond AU, or an Animal Shifter AU, or both. Especially if there'd be cultural differences between the Britons and Sarmatians in how was dealt with this. I love me some Fantasy Non-Human Genitalia, so feel free to go as weird and kinky as you want. I'm also really into all the marking and claiming and possessiveness, especially if it's mutual and in all directions.

KATE DANIELS WORLD - ILONA ANDREWS

Who I requested: Owen/Troy from the Wilmington Years books.

Why I love this canon and these characters: I love the magic system, the world-building, and the amazing character development almost all characters go through. I love the snark, the found family aspects, and I'm deeply invested in all canon relationships. It's one of those series where I've actually yelled at characters for making hard choices I disagreed with, and yet loved them even more for it. I'm completely caught up with all novellas, the final book, both the Hugh Spin-off and Blood Heir, and the Wilmington Years.

I really liked the banter between these two, and then accidentally gave myself a lot of Tank/Healer feelings, coupled with a bunch of Big Herbivore/Small Predator horny thoughts, and here I am, in small pairing hell. I'm also really intrigued by Troy being both a Healer AND a render in training, because the discrepancy between having sworn an oath to aid everyone while at the same time being a specilized killer monster is delicious to me. Coupled with Owen's whole relaxed attitude about everything (while also meditating to not fall into rage), I feel like there's a lot that could be explored there.

PROMPTS

All the angry discussions lead to all the angry fucking, lead to accidentally maybe having feelings. Or THANK FUCK YOU'RE ALIVE frantic fucking on the battlefield with accidental love confessions.
They argue and they spar it out and the sexual tension builds and builds until they can't anymore.
Some case leads to them having to rough it out in nature and they kind of grow closer while surviving in the (magical) wilderness (hiking! Rockclimbing! Forest survival, huddling for warmth, hunting food, honest conversations by the fireside, oh no there is only one tent/bedroll in the cave).
Pack dynamics and courting rituals! I don't think we've ever seen Clan Heavy or Herbivore courting rituals. How would those even look? But also all the traditional food related stuff, combined with that Wilmington Pack (mostly safe-house) life. Maybe one of them catches feelings and starts a wooing campaign. Or maybe they've had a casual fucking thing, but something happens that makes one of them decide to go for it for real
I'm into allllll the animalistic sex and urges you can think of. Scenting, biting, knotting, claiming, comeplay, bloodplay. Partially shifting during sex, sex in half-form or fully shifted, one or both parties.
I'm really interested in how different their species and Clan's are, and how that might translate in courting rituals, or just them understanding each other's thinking patterns and body language, and the misunderstandings that might come from that.
Owen getting hurt and Troy having to heal him hands on, while struggling with his attraction/feelings. Troy having a hard time with Owen always putting himself at risk and throwing himself head first into danger.
Both of them getting a little out of control during a magic flare.

BALDUR'S GATE 3

Who I requested: Astarion/Halsin.

Why I love this canon and these characters: I'm having a lot of fun playing Baldur's Gate. The world feels so rich and vast, there are so many characters and lives to interact with, so much is happening all the time. It's dark and messed up, but also whimsy and funny, and everything I love about playing D&D thrown into a game. Also everyone is HOT and hot for it.

Love Astarion's snark and overly dramatic banter, love how he's always calculating and manipulating, but occasionally forgets himself and shows his real self. Love that he's pretty and vain and not afraid to get down and dirty. Love how his arc is all sex before intimacy, and sex as a tool and a weapon, and how slowly he is to actually trust. His past is horrifying, and I love how much it still impacts his choices and behavior, and how it informs his lust and ambition for power. I want a gentler future for him, impossible as that might be.

Love Halsin and his no-nonsense approach to life, sex, love and relationships. Love his sense of duty and how he was willing to risk himself to find out what was going on, even before the party arrived at the Grove. I love that he's middle-aged for an elf and has lived a full and storied life. I like that even with him being so open and steadfast and certain of himself, there are parts of his life (like his mis-adventures and abuse while being held captive by the drow) that he hasn't necessarily dealt with. I love how kinky he is and how okay with his own wants and desires. There's more to him than meets the eye, as it were, and he's definitely an eye-full.

I love that you can have a canonical three-way relationship with them, but I'm even more into them together, without a third party. It's such a strong case of opposites attract, with Astarion being all about death and power and destruction and that city life, and Halsin being all about life and nature and balance. I love the contrast in their personalities and in how they deal with things, and I think they could be really good together, because they'd force each other to properly deal with some things and maybe grow a little and mellow out. Also they're both hot in very contrasting ways and would be even hotter together. All the blood-drinking and biting and beast fucking!

PROMPTS

Get Together, Opposites Attract, Companions With Benefits Accidentally Acquire Feelings, Get Together Shenanigans.
Once during Bear Fucking, Astarion has Speak With Animals on him, and so he understands all Bear!Halsin's breeding-related grunts and growls and is really into it. Now only to get Halsin to talk to him like that while fucking in elven form.
Astarion accidentally hunts Cave Bear!Halsin. Halsin is kind of into it and lets himself be caught. The trick is to pull free before Astarion drains him enough he shifts back. Maybe Astarion catches on, maybe Halsin loses control and forgets to escape, maybe it ends with them fucking bloody in the woods.
Accidental (and Unwilling) Disney Prince Astarion, where he gets struck with Speak With Animals AND animals suddenly really like him, and suddenly there is a bunch of woodland creatures that want to matchmake him with their favorite druid. Astarion hates it, until he doesn't.
A kind of Hades/Persephone situation for Astarion/Halsin post-canon. Where Halsin could never settle in the city but Astarion craves the city life, but they kind of started fucking and feeding and grew comfortable together, and they don't really want to give that up either. They end up in some sort of back and forth rhythm where they visit each other, and okay yeah, maybe the grove starts to grow moonflowers every year once Astarion is being expected, and maybe Astarion funds a whole garden complex in the Upper City, and maybe, they are indeed in love and in a slightly unconventional relationship.
For reasons vampire spawn go into heat if they're away from their sire for too long. Maybe as one of those powers of control that it makes the spawn want to return to their sire. Astarion is never going back, so he'll have to (temporarily) quench his heat with someone else. He's extremely vulnerable at the height of his heat, and he doesn't really trust anyone enough with this, but his instincts pull him towards Halsin. Who's all for heeding Nature's urges. Cue a lot of messy angst about Astarion not really being in control of his body (vs the argument that it's just a natural Vampire Spawn bonding mechanism, and it's okay to have instincts and cravings), and messy feelings about the fact that he's developing feelings for a Hippy Good Guy Druid of all things.
Any and all variations on the above: Maybe Heat happens one time and sets off an avalanche of messy feelings. Maybe the Heats keep happening, so they have to figure all the feeligs out while being occasionally/frequelently beleagured by hormones. Or maybe the Heat happens and then accidentally sets of Halsin's mating urge/rut, so now they have to deal with two sets of hormones (and maybe a little breeding kink on the side?). Or maybe the Heat happens, but Astarion RESISTS and goes slightly insane with hormones and desire and also feelings, while Halsin is driven to horny distraction by Astarion's delicious scent. Or maybe the one where they either fuck or don't fuck, but in any case Astarion's Heat hits again with a vengeance when they confront Cazador, and then when they beat him they gloriously fuck in the blood of their slain enemies.
Post-Canon, Halsin sets out to find some magic to cure Astarion. He doesn't quite succeed, but does find some way to turn Astarion into a Twilight!Vampire. He still can't quite go out into the city, but he's even more sparkly and beautiful. Astarion isn't sure it's a win, but he does like to bask in the sun, and blind people with his beauty.
Astarion ends up biting Halsin after/during a battle where he almost dies, out of desperation to survive. Maybe drinking Halsin's blood makes Astarion smell like Halsin, who likes it. Maybe bear-elfen-druid blood is the best high Astarion ever had, and now he wants more. Maybe Astarion drinking Halsin's blood makes him more susceptible to his magic, so now Halsin becomes his go-to healer, and Halsin always heals by ~~ cock ~~ touch. Maybe bloody biting kisses on the battlefield, covered in the blood of their enemies, becomes tradition.
Halsin is great at physical intimacy but not always great at emotional intimacy. Astarion struggles with bing physically and emotionally intimate at the same time. Somehow they have to figure each other out.
Accidental Soul-bond. A magical trap, a spell gone wrong, fated affinity, something happens and suddenly Halsin and Astarion are soulbonded, without a direct way to undo it. Sharing emotions, the need to be close, understanding each other's reactions... how do these two very different characters deal with that. And if their goal is to break the bond at the start, how do they deal with accidentally falling in love?

Medium ideas

One of my favorite things about BG3 is all the books and notes that are spread around the world, so anything like that, letters between them, outsider POV gossip, book fragments based on their lives, bard songs about their heroic acts and dirty songs about their love life. Volo's Bodice Ripper Romance about them.
- (Since Halsin canonically is a book nerd AND has proofread at least one RPF novel written about his adventures, I think it would be hilarious if someone wrote a romance novel about Halsin and Astarion and their adventure, and it was dealing with that that made them admit their feelings)
